The Click & Read extension was developed for use with Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari (from OS 14).

  • Resources via Unpaywall are free. There is no access fee.
  • Resources Istex resources are acquired for all MESRI institutions.
  • Resources Panist resources are acquired for the MESRI institutions that are members of the consortia.

AN EXTENSION THAT PROMOTES OPEN SCIENCE

The Click & Read extension integrates the free Unpaywall which it requests by default. If there is no response from Unpaywall, the virtuous platforms Istex and Panist that provide alternative access to publishers' sites and finally, if these do not respond it searches on the parameterised document collections.

Since v2.0, it has been possible to add, delete and choose the order of the document sources queried (e.g. between a free or a publisher's version of the document).

HOW DOES CLICK & READ WORK?

When browsing the Internet

  • whatever the site (Google, Google Scholar, publisher sites, Wikipedia...)
  • and whatever the query (article title, authors, DOI...)
  • the Click & Read extension scans the web page you are visiting page. It only looks for the DOI, PMID, PII (Elsevier) document identifiers
  • and then searches for the document that corresponds to the identifier found in the configured document collections.
  • It then displays the C&R button if the resource is available.

You can then just click on the button to access the document.
